Rewarding Yourself



Rewarding yourself for quitting smoking will greatly improve your chances of staying an ex. It will help you track your progress and help make your experience a positive one. The rewards should be timely, and enjoyable. Youmay plan to reward yourself daily, every few days or weekly. Write your reward plan in your calendar to keep you on track. Here are some ideas of ways to reward yourself.

  • Keep a money jar and deposit the amount of money you would normally spend on cigarettes each week.
  • Take a walk outside.Flowers
  • Write an email to an old friend.
  • Buy yourself flowers.
  • Read a favorite book.
  • Buy a new outfit.
  • Sleep in one day.
  • Go to a new restaurant.
  • Go to or rent a movie.
  • Have your significant other or spouse give you a back rub (or get a massage).
  • Send yourself a card.
  • Do yoga for 30-60 minutes.
  • Visit the Humane Society.
  • Volunteer.
  • Go to a sporting event.
  • Go for a horseback ride.
  • Try something new.
  • Go to an aerobics class.
